But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified self with its passions and its desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-25 CEB)
This is the life I want to live. It doesn't always work out, but I try to move forward to these ideals. It is ironic that I see these lived out more in Buddist or the non-religious. In fact I can count on my fingers the number of those who profess to follow Jesus and have this type of fruit in their lives.
It's not good.
I encounter at least about 800 followers of Christ every week. I see the brokenness, hatred, fear, and sorrow that plagues those who believe in God.
We blame the "church", but have we forgotten that we are the church? I am part of this problem, we all are.
How do we move forward?
What can we do to have more fruit in our lives?
